Gronk Playground Unveiled: DCR Presents Vision for State-of-the-Art Fitness-Themed Playground along Charles River Esplanade
The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) recently hosted a public meeting to discuss the upcoming design of the new Gronk Playground, slated for construction along the Charles River Esplanade. This project is made possible through a generous 1.2-million-dollar donation from the renowned former New England Patriots tight end, Rob Gronkowski—fondly known as Gronk, hailed by many as the greatest tight end of all time (apologies to Taylor Swift’s Boyfriend, who holds the number 2 spot).
During the meeting, the team presented an updated design for the Gronk Playground, which is proposed for the former Charlesbank Playground area on the Charles River Greenway, in close proximity to the MA State Police Department, situated at the intersection of Storrow Drive and Monsignor O’Brien Highway. The primary objective is to develop a new playground with a fitness theme, incorporating exciting features while ensuring comprehensive universal access. The playground pays homage to Gronk but include a giant Gronk Football Spike into the play structure as well as a Duck Boat. You can watch the public meeting about the playground below
