Playgrounds In Pictures: Artesani Playground (Along The Charles River)
This is part of series photographing and reviewing playgrounds and parks in the Boston Metro Area; playgrounds and parks are an important part of the infrastructure that promotes healthy early childhood development and should be celebrated and invested in to support young children and their families.
So far, we have looked at:
1. Perkins School For The Blind’s Playground
2. Pat and Gabriel Farren Playground
3. Transportation Children Center’s Playground
4. Irving Park
5. Smith Playground in Allston
6. Watertown’s 552 Main St Playground
7. Mother’s Rest Playground along The Muddy River
9. Dorothy Curran Playground at Joe Moakley Park
10. Martin Richard’s Part at The Smith Family Waterfront
This post we will focus on Artesani Playground which is located right along the Charles River on 1255 Soldiers Field Road in Brighton MA. This playground was recently renovated a couple years ago and features a nautical pirate theme which seems to be popular these days in playground design complete with pirate flags and cannon. There are also two nice slides, monkey bars, spiderweb style climbing structure, various types of swings and more. In addition, there is a spray park and splash pool right next to it with lifeguards on duty. In addition, there are dozens of benches for parents and caregivers to watch children play while also giving children their space. There are also picnic benches and grills that people can use. The cherry on top is how close it is to the Charles River. Children playing get to see wild life like ducks, geese, swans, herons, bunnies, squirrels, cormorants, people fishing and more while playing. It is also easily accessible via the bike path or the large parking lot. Also very important is the fact the playground has a large public bathroom. This is a great park for a great family day (when we are allowed to go to parks again), to have fun at the playground, spray park and be around and observe nature. Below are pictures I took of the playground:
