Senator Elizabeth Warren, Rep Katherine Clark, & Colleagues Release New Report Titled “Universal Child Care Is Essential to the Post-Pandemic Economic Recovery”

Today, United States Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), a member of the Senate Finance Committee, Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, Senator Tina Smith (D-Minn.), a member of the Senate HELP Committee, House Appropriations Chairwoman Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.), Assistant Speaker of the House Katherine Clark (D-Mass.), Congressman Mondaire Jones (D-N.Y.) and Congresswoman Sara Jacobs (D-Calif.) released a new report highlighting the critical need to expand and invest in our child care system and calling for $700 billion to support investments in child care as the country heads towards a post-pandemic economic recovery.”

The website Mother Jones wrote an article about it stating “While it’s not surprising to see Warren championing child care, the report is notable as a subtle rebuke of President Joe Biden for not devoting enough funds to child care in his infrastructure plans and offers a warning shot to lawmakers who might consider ditching child care as the party crafts its infrastructure agenda over the coming months

The report follows the Universal Child Care and Early Learning Act being reintroduced into congress. Warren and New York Congressman Mondaire L. Jones also recently released a video promoting that bill as well.
