Video: Barack and Michelle Obama Read “The Word Collector” by Peter Reynolds. & Praise Public Libraries As Essential Institutions

Barack and Michelle Obama recently read “The Word Collector” by Peter Reynolds. in their story-time series. As an elected Watertown Public Library Trustee, I was especially happy to hear them share their experiences going to public libraries and their belief that public libraries are essentially. As written previously on our website, well funded public libraries are an important part of the early education and care ecosystem and life long learning. We can’t talk about fully funding education, without also investing in local public libraries that support life long learning .

Watch the Obama’s video below:

President and Mrs. Obama joined Chicago Public Library’s “Live from the Library” storytime sessions, to read “The Word Collector” by Peter Reynolds. Public libraries are essential institutions, which is why we are so excited that the 82nd branch of the Chicago Public Library system will be located at the Obama Presidential Center.
