Playgrounds In Pictures: The Transportation Children's Center's Roof Deck Playground
Playgrounds are an integral part of the early childhood education and care ecosystem. This is post is part of a photo and review series that will look at both public and center based playgrounds in the Boston metro area to see innovative playground features which support early childhood development. The first two posts were dedicated to The Perkins School For The Blind Playground and Watertown’s Pat and Gabriel Farren Playground . This post is dedicated to The Transportation Children’s Center’s (TCC) Playground. TCC’s playground is unique in that it is on the third floor of an office building. Being in Downtown Boston, the school wanted to bring nature into the children’s lives so there is a garden running along the entire side of the playground with trees, flowers, fruits, and vegetables growing which gets incorporated both into the children’s snack menu and curriculum. In addition, the playground features a large space which allows for two play structures, a sandbox, basketball hoop, picnic tables, benches and space to ride tricycles and scooters.
