Boston City Councilor Michelle Wu recently posted this picture and post on her Facebook. 

 This is a great example of why politicians personal experiences are important. If you have young children, issues related to child care, early education, maternity leave, and paternity leave are most likely on your mind because of your day to day life.

The vast majority of politicians at every level are not caring for young children. This does not mean that they can’t care about issues related to early education and care. However, they may lack the recent visceral knowledge of having issues related to finding quality child care. It is one thing to read a report about lack of quality child care and another to actually deal with that issue in your own life. Thank you Michelle Wu for constantly advocating for access to qualify child care and for highlighting this issue in a personal way in your Facebook post.
