Let’s Hold The Next National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Conference Inside The United States Capital Building
I got to go to my first NAEYC conference this year and it was a great experience. I got to meet and learn a lot from amazing early childhood education educators, researchers, administrators, and advocates. However, at times it felt like preaching to the congregation.
My Biggest issue about The NAEYC Conference was there were 1000s of ECE people here and we were a mile from The White House and The United States Capital Building. Instead of giving presentations, speeches and marching around the convention center, the 1000s of ECE people should be marching to Capital Building and White House making our voices heard and getting media publicity. Better yet, let’s just hold the whole damn conference inside and around the Capital building and give our presentations to any legislator and media members who are near by. Next time we are in DC, lets not be the child who sits with pretzel legs and follows the rules. Let’s be the distributive kid in class that is loud, all over the place, and makes sure all the attention is on them.
